It belonge... more »d to a West Texas Oil Company. This particular oil company had organized with one object in view, namely that of striking oil, and its motto was in keeping with its object. It read, "Oil, hell, or China!" We know of no more simple formula for determination than that, nor do we know of any more certain formula for success. The spirit of this motto is shared by Sigma Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha in its little enterprise of publishing a Zeta Tau Alpha Songbook. Sigma has certainly worked faithfully with the songbook proposition, as is shown in the following excerpts from letters written by the chairman of the Songbook Committee: November 13 Sigma Chapter has determined this year to publish the Songbook. Last year the good intention and hard work availed nothing in practical consequences for all of the chapters would not respond. This year the Songbook shall be published regardless of weak or indifferent chapters. How, we cannot exactly say as yet, for it takes money from each chapter, but it shall be done. We are working on a plan of finance now, however, that we hope to present to Grand Chapter soon for its approval and help. But one most important thing: the fraternity needs tobe educated up to the Songbook need and necessary work and guarantee. If Grand Chapter will talk, and advertise it, and plan for it in every letter sent out, in Themis, and in visiting, that will be a great help. The more we work on the proposition, the more firmly convinced we are that a more central and authoritative body must demand attention from the various chapters.
