This story is narrated by a young man who, during the summer, rides with a policeman and helps out. The policeman is an x-military guy who is perfect. He is A-squared away and kind and honest. If it's necessary to tell a lie for the good of someone - he just doesn't say anything. Instead, he lets the other person's perspective remain. He is a Dudley Do-right guy. The young man, Danny, is totally in awe of him until in the course of this investigation it appears he has killed a suspect accused of molesting a child. Danny, is totally bummed and rethinking his admiration for Ceepak and for becoming a police officer full time. They are investigating a murder. Ceepak is dedicated to solving the crime, despite constant setbacks. Danny isn't sure where Ceepak is headed with his theories, but he does his best to keep up. Quoting Springsteen and living by the"code," Ceepak and Danny slowly uncover the truth, rocking the small town.
