I've read all of Shannon McKenna's novels, and while I liked this, it really didn't grab me like her previous books. Maybe it was because my expectations were so high after reading so much of Tam already, maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it, or maybe it just wasn't as good as her other books. For whatever reason, the romance was hard for me to buy into. The suspense/action aspect of the story was great as usual.
If you've never read Shannon McKenna before, you should know that while her books are considered suspense/romance, they also can get pretty dark. This one isn't as dark as some of the others (Extreme Danger, for example) but it does touch on the ugly/disturbing histories of the main characters.

Tam is such an interesting character - and finally getting everything about her made this book even better. Val is yet another hot Alpha, and I loved him. His desire for Tam dictates everything, and her trying to avoid him is so much fun. I loved the way these two came together - Tam is such a BA and Val falls for that just as much as her beauty and adopted little girl.

After reading several of McKenna's books, I'm convinced she has rape fantasies. There is a lot of it in this book in subtle ways. The first time Val and Tam get together, Val drugs Tam first (So in my book, if you have to drug someone to get them to sleep with you, it's rape). In fact most of the sex scenes in falls under the category of "Your 'no' doesn't really mean 'no.' "
I was hoping Tam would be more resistant to Val's caveman tactics. But she is really easy. She is also very forgiving simply because he is good in bed. What, you tried to take my daughter from me? You put all of my passports on a federal watch list so I can't get out of the country? You framed my sitter's sons for drug charges? Well, it's okay because you are so good in the sack. Needless to say, Val uses sex to control Tam a lot. It makes for steamy bedroom scenes but does nothing for Tam's character. She comes off as all talk and no substance.
But if you can get over that, the story is intriguing. I love the little girl Rachel and you get to revisit with Sveti from Nick and Becca's story. I also love the fact that they are dealing with multiple bad guys, not just one baddie. Makes things interesting. Of course you get glimpses of the McClouds which is always fun. In fact, I wish they were more involved in this story. Might have made it better. I do like the back stories of Tam and Val.

Had to finish this series, this book took abit to get into but once I did it took off just like the others. Lots of great twists and turns with sexy tension! A great read.
Another great book by this author. I wasn't sure she could find a guy that was man enough to overcome Tam but she did! It was a great read!
Loved this edition of the McCloud Brothers. Tam Steele is awesome and Val Janos is YUMMY@@!@@@@!!!

TAMARA STEELE from ULTIMATE WEAPON is the Best stand out Heroine Ive read & felt touch by in a long time. Its ironic because Tam was Tam just sitting back in the McCloud books with cigarette in her hand legs cross thinking in her mind saying yeah Im only buying my time. My break through will come & when It does every ones gonna take notice I be darn if she went ahead & showed out, came Full Force in her own book Tam isnt no joke shes not to be taken likely. What a life force that lives & breaths. It would be great if this book which is by the way def is a movie, make it to the big screen but in all wise stay True to the truth & nothing but the Truth of Every letter of Book: ULTIMATE WEAPON
