Enjoyable story of a family of seven children trying to survive after Mother's death and with a father who isnt always present. His grief often overcomes him so he can't care for the children. THe oldest tries to manage the children, the tobacco farm, and her father. In comes the son of the mayor to help and a relationship devolopes. She also finds that the townspeople care more than she thought. A good read.
I am a diehard mystery/thriller fan---but this book was a wonderful respite from those. Full of rich characters and a heroine that you love to root for---I just loved this book, and actually MISSED the characters when I finished.
