In my opinion, one of LaMour's best stories. Gripping from first page to the very end. The characters, the plot, the way he interweaves history and makebelieve into a masterful plot are the definition of his later works.

Anyone who has read Louis L'Amour knows how discriptive he is in making you feel the same elements his character is experiencing. This is one of few that is not a western but rather a historcal adventure of the 12th century. I have his complete hardcover collection and this is one of my favorites.

NOT a WESTERN! But a well researched and enthralling story of 12th century Europe and Asia.

I found this book to be pretentious, but entertaining. If you are in to swash-buckling style adventure, this is your book.

A great epic adventure, very well researched in which the hero travels across europe and asia to find his captured father in the 12th century. My only wish is that L'amour didn't write a sequel before he passed.
