This is not the book by HG Wells, but one written in the eighties based on the TV series that ran at that time. Since I always liked Wells and his book, I got caught up in the TV series and thought it had potential. I even bought the book. It's light reading and good to take to the beach. At least, compared to other things I read, this is light reading.
As I recall, it doesn't exactly end on a note of complete resolution and joyful saving of the planet from any and all comers. But I'm tired of those endings anyway. It doesn't end on a dismal note, either.
