My books live with a freakishly large bulldog. Although he does not read them, he does shed. Many of my books have come to me via adoption, so I can't guarantee that they've never been in a smoking/scented environment. I'm pretty immune to odors/scents and the bulldog has no nose with which to sniff test the books.
