Victoria Beaumont was looking forward to relaxing on Mackinac Island at the family's summer home.
But all thoughts of relaxing fled when she discovered that her father, Charles, had invited Dirk Ramsey. His ruthless newspaper articles threatened to damage Charles's political career. Perhaps if Dirk got to know the Beaumonts better he would change his views.
Victoria didn't want to know him better. True, Dirk Ramsey was the most attractive man she'd ever met-but any interest he showed in her was purely for the sake of journalism!

A high-paced fantasy thriller. Okay, so there are 3 types of Firstborn: the Prima (people who see into the past), the Ora (people who can see into the present), and the Domani (people who can see into the future.) It was a very interesting premise and boy, is this book action-packed. You'll have to hang on by your fingernails if you want to keep up with everything going on. This usually isn't my preferred genre, but I was very impressed by this debut novel, and I highly recommend it.

Cathie disliked Rob Douglas before she even met him. The Eastern city slicker was buying her grandparents' farm, which Cathie, more than anything, wanted to keep in the family. Rob turned out to be just as disturbing in the flesh-and dangerously seductive. Cathie decided immediately to stay out of his way. The less she saw of him the better for her. But he wasn't having it. With a calm arrogance that infuriated Cathie, he set out to undermine her resistance. . .

Wow, what a great book! It was incredibly complex for a debut novel, but Julie Klassen is an excellent storyteller and the characters just suck you in!
The cover is beautiful; it just adds to the realness of the story. I finished it in three days! 5 stars for this beauty, and I'm ready to read more of Julie Klassen!
