The setting of this book is Tasmania, Australia and the Southern Ocean. It was written in 1967 and can be classified as Tom Clancy "light". There is intrigue, mystery and a host of interesting characters. There are several twists in the plot/characters that are not evident until the author chooses to reveal them. The story takes place in the era of the US-USSR race to be the first country to reach the moon. Because the book is only 184 pages, the story and characters are not developed to the degree of a Clancy novel. Nevertheless, it draws the reader into the narrative and keeps the reader's attention.

This is the first Greg Iles book I've read. He is a master of intrigue! Several times I thought I had figured out where the plot was headed, but he surprised me. I highly recommend it and will read more of his books.
