Yankee Trader (Newspaper) - 7/11/2007 by Ned Sweeney
Avid readers find literature a pathway to the history of the world, the galaxies of
imagination, the inner sanctum of romance, as well as the foundation for learning.

Having a passion for reading can result in an unmanageable stack of books. A dedicated pair of businessmen, Richard Pickering and Robert Swarthout, who are avid readers, too, found a solution for those of us who enjoy good books, but don't know where to put them all.

" I used to buy books on Amazon or eBay, but was frustrated with having to pay for the books and then all the handling charges, in addition to the postage," Richard explains. The partners founded a Web site with an environment for members, throughout the United States, can trade their paperbacks for free. " When a member requests one of the books, which you list on the Web site, you mail it to them," he said.

"You pay the postage, that's usually about $2.13, but then another member returns the favor when you request a book and they mail it to you," Richard said. "The books are always free because all the members are willing to trade their books with other members."

"The buzz over has been growing and the club has become the talk of book lovers all over the United States," Richard said. "The goal of is to become the largest virtual library of paperback books in the world," Robert said. is located at
