A painful, yet beautiful look at Germany before, during, and after WWII. Why became of the wives of the Nazis, and Resisters. One of the best historical fiction books out there today. What brings these women together after the war, and what eventually tears them apart is a story that needs to be told. The shame that many German people felt after the war, was then heaped on their children's shoulders, and by the time their grandchildren were old enough to understand about the war and all that it entails became just a distant if not painful memory.
