This is the first book I have read by this author, but definitely, not the last.Â
Meddelin "Meddy" Chan, a photographer who works for the family's wedding business, accidentally kills her blind date. Unfortunately, the body ends up being transported in a cake cooler to the lavish wedding that they are catering. Her mother and aunts, known for their overbearing nature, step in to help dispose of the body. To make matters worse, Meddy runs into Nathan, her ex-boyfriend from college, who just happens to manage the hotel that is hosting the wedding.Â
This was such a fun read! I laughed so hard at Meddy's mother and aunties outrageous behavior! Â
For example, after Meddy's mom calls the aunties to come over to help out with the dead body thus, she and Meddy have to quickly cut up mangos, dragon fruit, and pear because it is rude not to offer any food to your guests. Moreover, Meddy's mother and aunties have differing interpretations of emojis. She sends a text to Auntie asking if "everything is ok?" Auntie replys with a thumbs-up, angry face, and shirt emojis.Â
This is a fun summer read! I am looking forward to reading more books in the "Aunties" series!
