I had tried a couple of read out loud books for my five year old son and he wouldn't pay attention to any of them. A friend recommended this series and my son LOVED this first book. He kept asking me to read on and then order more books. If you are a literature snob you may not like these. If you are looking for something catchy to start your kid on chapter books this does the trick!
