A delightful, amusing book by Delderfield, telling of Napoleons relationships with women from his early adolescence until his exile at Saint Helena. Surprisingly, it does not deal with Josephine as harshly as most historians, but rather saves its wrath for Desiree (& her husband, Bernadotte) Nor does the book cite the common belief of Napoleon having spoken of Josephine on his deathbed as most sources do.
