I loved this book! It's a 'cop story,' a true account. Even though it is made known from the beginning that Det. Longo dies, he is portrayed with such depth and honesty that I found myself wishing the story could somehow have a different ending. Det. Longo was not a supercop, not a bad cop, but a real human being, with the same hopes and dreams that many of us have, that despite his failings and shortcomings, you can't help but root for the guy. Set up by his own guys, he nonetheless tries to do the right thing, but corrupt cops of higher authority destroy him. If you like 'cop books,' you're gonna love this one.
