Lovely photographs, some interesting recipes, but not much beyond basic instructions on the why and how of making preserves. I would have purchased it retail. Water bath canning instructions are out of date and do not reflect current USDA guidelines. It makes a nice reference for cooks looking for canning recipes a bit off the beaten track but it does not replace the Ball Blue Book or other basic canning and preserving reference.
