Usually I find Graham's Poldark novels to be page turners. But there was not a whole lot happening in this one, so it was slow reading. Since it takes place early in the 19th century I would describe it as a "Regency Romance." Especially as there are so many romances discussed in this book.

However, Demelza's unexpected condition was a bit of a shocker, as was Jeremy's participation in a criminal endeavor. But I fully understand why he participated in and actually led it.
