Oh man, this was sad. Don't write/tell adventure stories about old hasbeen adventurers. Constantly harping on how the joints hurt, the recovery time is longer, the "you fill in the blank about getting older" didn't help.

Mutt was a mere jot, existing merely to draw in a younger crowd.

The russians. They infiltrate the base where the Ark of the Covenant is stored, in the PHRAKKING middle of the United States of America?!? Sword fighting on moving jeeps, and then being destroyed by aliens because of stupidity? It was too much to swallow.

The aliens. Maybe it was a big surprise in the movie, but in the book, you knew it was aliens right from the get go. And beings so powerful got lost? On earth? And their little alien bitchboys, aka Roswell, couldn't find them? My eyes were like marbles, they were rolling so much ;-)

This was the final nail in the Indiana Jones Franchises's coffin. Let it stay dead and buried. [until they make horrible remakes in the 2030's]
