Well, that was one circuitous journey to a happily ever after. I did enjoy Violet, her independent spirit and her penchant for travel, but not so much the arrogant James who took so very long to come around. In fact, they both did. All that trust building takes time, I guess. But I do not like plots that involve manipulating third parties who force the main couple together under conditions that threaten inheritances. I did have fun traveling along with the couple to Paris/Florence/Athens but their romance was found more in their growing up rather than any shared grand passions. Not exactly a satisfying read for me, but I did, at least, finish it. 3.5 stars
