Herself formerly both an actress and a detective, Farrell offers a delightful debut mystery that draws on both these milieus.

From Library Journal
Aspiring actress Annie McGregor works part time for a New York private investigator. Annie and a partner "guard" a popular soap opera star on the very night someone shoots the star's husband: alibi Annie then deals with a bullheaded police detective, sporadic casting calls, a power-hungry soap executive, numerous actor friends, and a wimpy lover. First-novelist Farrell has some good ideas--especially Annie "acting" the part of detective in a soap opera world--but cliched plot, old-hat humor, and shallow characterization mar this. Skip it.
