This is very well done and quite an original story. This is a town where a deal was struck many generations back to keep the residents safe. There is a dark side to this contract and as unexpected events occur, both the protagonist and her longtime (boy)friend learn the secrets they were sheltered from knowing and find their lives have been preordained. There are twists I didn't see coming. This was spooky and fun. This is certainly open to a sequel (or many) to follow.
