I happen to be one of those people who like old-fashioned books. This is one of those old books of before even my childhood in what today's children would consider the dark ages, and appeals to me! I had read it years ago, and somehow, my copy of this book and its sequels, were lost from my parents' basement while I was overseas.

Maida was a sickly little girl who had a millionaire father and anything that money could buy, but she needed something to take an interest in. On a trip, she and her father and doctor happened on a little shop and it took Maida's interest, so her father bought it for her. She had to pretend to not be a rich child and had to give up her own automobile and her valuables. Through the shop, she made friends of other children and became quite well again. She also showed kindness to the children and they loved her. It certainly is not a realistic book, and I don't imagine most children today would enjoy it!
