Pike Morgan is in the witness protection program after a friend is killed by a gang. He is in the Marine Reserves and keeps to himself most of the time. On a tour of Afghanistan, he is involved in a war zone that makes him think about his past and future.

I thought the book was good, but like the first in the series, rather violent. It is a war book, so some violence is to be expected, but parts of the book had a little too much for my taste.
