Fun military SF, first in a loose series. It will remind you of Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" although doesn't take itself quite so seriously. Perry is a likeable character, although you'll wonder how it is that a guy who wrote advertising copy for a living manages to be a quick-thinking, excellent military tactician. And his cohorts pretty much all sound the same - there's not a lot of character development going on. But let all that go...it's got an intriguing premise, a fast-paced plot, and an interesting development towards the end.
