This is a hard book to read, fiction or non-fiction. There is a ridiculous debate about that, but it doesn't matter. This is the downfall of a teen addict, as anyone with family or friends suffering this, or someone in the medical field knows all too well.

This is a raw telling of the steps, so real that besides wanting to often smack the girl or lock her up in her room, you can't stop reading. For those inexperienced with this, you will most likely not understand the insidious grip drugs get on a body, a mind, a soul. Well, here it is. Despite all good intentions and rehab, once an addict, always an addict.

Another debate is whether young teens should actually read this as the descriptions of the highs might drive them to the drugs. Uh, no. They've already heard the glory over and over. The descriptions of the agony for the mind and body, the hunger, the sex with strangers for a fix, the street life that follows is JUST what they need to hear.

Its a quick, simple book. And while I found it quite effective, I gave it only 3 starts because at times I was actually bored with diary entries. They started getting tedious.
