This is a detailed, quite scholarly book with endnotes, bibliography, 'for further reading,' and a good index. There are illustrations from the 1830s.
The 'Cherokee Cases' are usually not mentioned in the US History classes we took in 8th and 11th grades and maybe not in junior college US History, but Chief Justice Marshall and his colleagues established that the treaties made by the federal government with Indian nations bound all the states also.
No wishes for this book. Unfortunately, although it has been on the shelf at this branch library for 17 years, it has little wear.
