Andy Mangels is an American science fiction author who has written novels, comics, and magazine articles, and directed documentaries dealing with popular culture.
In collaboration with Michael A. Martin, he wrote a conclusion for the events of the cult-hit television series
Roswell (which had ended in somewhat of a cliffhanger) in the novels
Pursuit and
Turnabout. He contributed a story, written with Martin to
Tales of Zorro, edited by Richard Dean Starr and published by Moonstone Books in 2008.
Mangels and Martin wrote a relaunch
Enterprise, following on from the series' cancellation, writing
Last Full Measure,
The Good That Men Do, and
Kobayashi Maru, before Martin wrote the latest installment,
Beneath the Raptor's Wing.
His comics writing has included work for DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Wildstorm, Image, Innovation, WaRP, and Topps. He edited the anthology Gay Comix for several years.
Mangels is an award-winning activist in the gay community, particularly in the leather and bear subcultures. He resides in Portland, Oregon.
