Guess I read these out of order. I read Harmony's Way first, a couple months prior, then Megan's Mark. They can be stand alone books, I was not confused in reading them out of order; but I did have a case of deja vu. I could swear the same thing happened with both females, they both denied and rejected the Mating Heat; and they were both headstrong "warriors."
This being about the fifth book of Leigh's that I have read, I am learning you may want to read others in between or take a break every now and again with her. The "pet names" that the males give the females and the "conversations" during sex never seem to be original. They are almost word for word.
Nevertheless, I certainly enjoy her books and will not quit reading them. She does not leave much to the imagination, she is very detailed and graphic. As with other reviewers warnings, if you are not into hard core descriptive sex, her books are not for you.

Megan's Mark is a typical Leigh novel. Breed male finds his mate, she resists the bonding but cannot help herself. Male feels the need to dominate, etc. I didn't enjoy the romance so much in this story as I found Megan to be quite annoying. I did find the political aspects of the Breeds interesting.

This book is very graphic, almost soft porn. Do not request if you are offended by explicit material

If you want steamy, read Lora Leigh. The first book of the series. In experiments to create the perfect soldier, human and animal DNA were spliced to create the Breeds. Tested and tortured in labs for years, they are finally out and fighting to keep their "human" recognition in the world.
Cursed with the power to feel other people's emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff's deputy. She finds solace in the silence of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realized that the secrets from her past can't stay buried forever.
Feline Breed Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the Breed murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with Braden does Megan find relief from her unwanted empathic powers...and surrender to the hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey...
A good introduction to a new series and a new "world"....the Breeds.

Wasn't that crazy about this book and never actually finished it accept to skim the last parts. Partially my fault as I am not crazy about contemporary books unless they are really well written paranormal books (as in Sherrilyn Kenyon or Kresley Cole). But my best friend liked this book, so I gave it a try. I just couldn't get into the characters and the sex scenes didn't do anything for me. I am not adverse to explicit sex in my books (love Robin Schone!) however, there are some words and images that just take the romance out of things and that is what this book does. I haven't completely written off this author as I want to try her magic series.

I really enjoyed this book. I got the recommendation to read this author from another forum and really glad I listened. I am looking forward to reading other "breed" books. The characters were interesting, and of course the romance was "steamy". A very good book!

For a book that really locks you in and a good quick read for alot of really great ADULT ROMANCE...this is the book for you. I have not read the other Breeds but am waiting on my next. I read it out of order of the series but it is fine as a stand alone. I was not lost.
This book is fast and furious with a strong woman for a equally strong MAN.
This is not a romance novel. This is a intense ADULT ROMANCE book.

A sizzling read, though rather pedestrian in terms of the writing. I also had some issues with the characterization, mainly in terms of the author's portrayal of the dominant nature of the leading man.

Very slow moving book. I just made it half way when I decided to forget it. Enjoy.

My Fave Breeds book by far!!! I loved Megan & Braden as a couple. So HOTT!!! and explosive. U don't have 2 read in order 2 get it, but it would be good 2 read the 1st of the series 2 get an idea of whats goin on w/Braden. But w/Megan n her 'powers' it was extremely sexy!!! Keeper 4 sure!!

I read this in one day. It's not my favorite Breeds story, but it's ok. I've read the Breeds stories out of order, but I wasn't terribly lost or confused by the storyline. Mark is a human with some lion DNA. He's a Breed. Breeds are created, not born. They're also subject to heinous conditions in the labs that created them. Raised to be a super soldier, Mark still manages to have humor, fun, and an easy going way about him. Megan is not as likable. I didn't find her remotely exciting or interesting. She seemed too emotional. One thing I didn't understand is how she uses his "emotional shields" to protect her empathic abilities. Why does he have emotional shields? He's a Breed, not an empath like Megan.
The romance here is red hot, and if you get embarassed by sexually explicit scenes, you'll need to stay away from this book. It's definitely for adults only.
The back cover says this is the first in the series, but it's not. It's the first in the series published by this particular company. There are other books in the series preceding this one, but again, if you haven't read those, you're not going to be terribly lost. This story could almost stand on its own.

Pure porn with a dash of romance. Personally disappointed as I would prefer the reverse (I often skip over the sex scenes anyway because when you've read a million romances, the sex scenes often start to sound the same anyway) but I know a lot of women like this, so to each her own.

I can't express how much I loved this book!!!
I read the first book, "Tempting the Beast" and was less then impressed, then I read book# 8 "Harmony's Way" which was better, I liked it, but then I back tracked and got this one, wow, it was just so much better, I am so glad that I didn't give up on this series after that first book!!!!

This was a quick hot little read. Not the best I have ever read but not horrible. I don't know if it draws me in to read any more books by this author. I haven't decided yet.
Initially liked the characters and the writing style, but the language was too raunchy for me. I would call it porn. Got to be so graphic I stopped reading about halfway through. Just not my cup of tea. But if GRAPHIC SEX and pretty raw language doesn't bother you, you'll probably enjoy the story.

I really liked this Breed book. I like the fact that the female character has a front and center role. He mate wants to shelter her, but he knows that is not what SHE needs. My only complaint was that the book was too short. There could have been more action.

Steamy Sexy and I LOVED the female lead. A strong woman with issues...so familiar. LOL
Another Lora Leigh great.

Book 7 in the Breeds series. I enjoyed it. Very sexy and even funny at times. A sexy, alpha Lion Breed mates with a strong, independent female. They butt heads a lot, which is where the humor comes in. Started out just a bit slow for me, but once I got into it, it was a pretty quick read.
Im anxious to read the rest of this series, but I would suggest not reading them back to back. Too many similarities, if you do, I think.

Superb! Whether or not you have read her previous Breed books this stand alone story is HOT. Nice pace, not too much action but a nice plot that keeps the hero and heroine thrown together to solve who's after her and why. Plot tied up nicely in the end. The prior characters mentioned & the introduction of new ones set things up for more great Breed stories to come. I thought it had just the right amount of erotic love scenes to get the heart pumping for a mainstream romance by Lora Leigh (She is WELL known for her detailed deeply erotic love scenes).

I hadn't read any of the others and I could follow the story. If you like Ellora's Cave style books then you would enjoy this.

Pretty good. A little over the top, but that might be because I started the series with this one, rather than from book 1. I liked the action, and the twist at the end. All in all pretty enjoyable quick read.

Really liked this book. It is the first Breeds book I have read. I liked the combination of action and romance. Braden is a super hot Alpha Male. Loved it!

New to print writer. I have read her E-books so I was prepared for the very descriptive love scenes. You will like if you are used to reading Jaid Black and Angela Knight. Next book in the series is coming out soon.
Forgetable, very predictable, very similar to her previous books!

This is supposedly the seventh of the feline breed stories. Some are in anthologies, mostly Ellora's Cave. I have not read them in order, and did not have a problem understanding everything. I like Lora
Leigh's writing, and will try to track down everything she has written. "Hot Spell" is where you will find the first one.

ERoctic and action packed.
Lots of sizzle! Alpha Breed Braden Arness is posted to the wilds of New Mexico to solve the mysterious murders of other Breeds. The murders all lead to one hot shot young sheriff's deputy, Megan Fields, who has a secret that keeps her hidden away in the desert.
I have read some of her breed books and this one is a bit dull. I couldn't get into the story until middle of the book when I starts to really get better.
This is the first I read of her. Predicable but different. Breeds with Humans, Very saucy though!!
Not bad

WOW is all I can say. Lora Leigh is a very strong writer. It has it a great story. Please only read Lora Leigh if you are not embrassed by sex because she writes it like it is.
Science fiction/paranormal romantic thriller. Fast-paced and exciting from start to finish. Interesting main characters.
Love Lora Leigh, her books never disappoint, love the Breeds!
love how the shifters that have been a sicence throrpy that find the love of there lives she is a great author
They were created, not born.
Megan Fields is an Empath living in the desert of New Mexico trying to hide from the overpowering effects of the outside world. She is ambushed while investigating an abandoned vehicle with two dead bodies. Enter Feline Breed, Braden Arness. He saves Megan from the Coyotes that have ben sent to kill her.
Although the cover of the book states that it is the first in a new series, I discovered that this is actually book #7. I was able to catch up with what was going on but really think I needed a little more background.
Braden's Alpha tendencies and the Mating ritual that binds him to Megan were a bit much. I enjoyed the suspense of the storyline about the Breeds. The relationship between Megan and Braden was intense! I think I need to back up and read the books in order to help build the world in my mind.
As a side note, I'm basically a cat person but once again the dog (Mo-J0) held a special place in my heart.

Lora Leigh created a complete world that is very believable. The breeds are DNA altered humans and totally prejudiced against. Great series.
Outstaning book by a legend in the paranormal world -
I love Lora Leigh and her sex filled books. It's hard to collect all of the breed books (now at 19) because they're not avaiable in the library, used book stores and usually hard to find new.
Very steamy!
1st in new series. 1st book I've read by this author. Really great book, I love the characters & the plot. This book is hot, hot, hot.
I like her books. This one is pretty hot.
One of Lora Leigh's Breed series, most of which are available through Ellora's Cave Publishing. I really enjoyed this one!
The first book in her new erotic series. Sizzling hot great intriguing world where genetic breeds and humans collide and come together.. HOT HOT HOT
I really really liked this book.....
This is a good book if you like graphic. The language is a little harsh.
Excellent! 1st one I've read in this series, can't wait for another.
Not for me. A little too raunchy.
You can tell Lora Leigh had yet to really get into the world of the Breeds with this book. Its different than some of the others in this same world that she's written. Megan is a fierce lead character. Its great!
A Breed novel. Braden and Megan.
Love her books!
Hot, Hot and Hot.
Another HOT read from Lora Leigh! The plots are getting better in this series, and the erotic scenes never fail to satisfy. Love it!
Loved it! Great continuation of her Breeds series.
Love this book!!!!! A keeper!
quick easy read with interesting characters and storyline. worth the read.
GOOD PARANORMAL ROMANCE...FIRST IN A SERIES..
Totally enjoyed this book.
