I first read this book along with all the other books of the series about 20 years ago. This book with The Hour of the Donkey are IMHO the best. The Hour of the Donkey is set as the German panzers are pushing the French and English armies back at the start of the war. The '44 Vintage is set soon after D Day. Both give a good feeling for the chaos felt by troops on the ground and the "44 Vintage introduces the reader to Butler and Audley the central characters of the series.

As wartime adventure stories go it is hard to think of better.

The 4:8 Principle

Review Date: 6/17/2021

Tommy Newberry's message is simple, relevant, powerful, and timeless. In this New York Times bestseller, Newberry takes a single biblical principle and teaches us how one simple truth can magnify the joy we experience in our marriage, with our parenting, and in our life as a whole. Unfortunately, we live in a society bent on nursing old wounds and highlighting what is wrong with just about everything. As a result, we have grown accustomed to viewing the world, our lives, and ourselves through a lens of negativity and that negativity stands in direct contrast to the passionate, purpose-filled people God wants us to be. This is where The 4:8 Principle grabs our attention. First, the author skillfully persuades us to acknowledge the link between the thoughts we choose to think and the joy we experience. Next, he shows us how we can grow our potential for joy by refusing to dwell upon the problems and pressures that are enduring and inevitable. Finally, he challenges us to pay the price of joy by becoming âextraordinarily pickyâ about what we read, watch, and listen to on a consistent basis. The strength of the book, though, is in Newberry's ability to clearly explain how to put this principle into daily practice through a series of quick, easy and even fun adjustments. The 4:8 Principle is loaded with specific suggestions and helpful advice for going beyond the ordinary and experiencing life as it was meant to be.

When she found this out she was rude, thankless and ungrateful to the family who raised her after finding her in their chicken house. I did not like Rose she was a mean , thankless girl.

This book is a collection of original poetry and Biblical scriptures. Nice gift for a spouse or married couple or a wedding gift. The author goes from a-z with a scripture and a thought for that letter of the alphabet. For example, A is appreciation and B is budget. This is a very practical, wise, but romantic book. Great gift.

This is a great book for all ages.Suddenly, April is MISSING! She VANISHED, overnight! She's thirteen years old, and disfunctional does not begin to describe her family. This night, she was HOME, and she was alone!. Next moprning she was GONE! She was Theo's VERY GOOD friend. Not his 'grlfriend', in the romantic sense, but his FRIEND. And Theo was HER friend, in the same sense. This is actually the SECOND in the series of books about Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer. It takes us on a midnight ride to a College town where a really bad rock band is playing, loudly, for a Sorority party. How'd we get there? Theo knows! He and Ike (Theo's Uncle) track her down and GO THERE to rescue her. From whom? READ THE BOOK! There is less in my review than for Kid Lawyer, but I did more explanitory stuff there. This is a real PAGE TURNER, too! The town comes to life and the characters come to life, and the story is believable!

Abigail is an Amish midwife and in the state she lived in Amish midwives are unlicensed. She is called to do a home birth and she normally works with a doctor MD but the doctor wasn't able to come. She showed up there at the last minute an emergency and delivered the baby and the woman died, but it wasn't from her negligence that the woman died. The woman had been told. She should never have any children and the woman told Abigail when she delivered the baby she knew she was going to die when she delivered the baby but she wanted an Amish midwife there with her, and Abigail had some Pitocin, which is a prescription drug that she administered to the woman, Abigail was arrested for doing the homebirth alone and for administering the Pitocin, and for the woman dying. She goes to jail in the story is about how her and her family coped when she was charged, going to jail what happened with her
family when she was in jail and what happened with her in jail A very interesting book I have never read an Amish book like this.
